This Waterproof Legionella thermometer kit can be used to monitor the temperature of water and the surface of pipes, as well as the tanks that are part of the water system. The penetration probe can also be used to test the temperature of tap water.

The immersion probe should be placed in the water to a minimum depth of 25mm; the surface probe may be used to take the temperature of pipes and tanks, the wire probe can be used to reach places where other probes are not appropriate. This kit comes with a traceable certificate of calibration.

Incorrect water temperature is a main risk factor for legionella bacterial growth. Legionella bacteria multiply in water at temperatures between 20 to 45°C, especially in the presence of nutrients such as rust, sludge or algae. A standard control method is to store cold water at temperature below 20°C. Hot water should be stored at above 60°C and distributed at above 50°C.
