This manual refractometer has a double scale for simultaneous reading of Baume concentration in the range of 0-20° Be. It also measures alcohol content in the interval of 0% to 25%.
This model is specifically designed for measuring alcohol degree of concentration in wine.
It employs automatic temperature compensation in the range of 10°C - 30°C.
The refractometer measures the index of refraction and that means the concentration of alcohol percentage by volume.
Calibrating the device is quick and easy and can be done by placing 2-3 drops of distilled water on the top of the prism block and pointing the refractometer in the direction of a natural light source.
Look through the eyepiece and you will see a circular field with divisions through the center. If necessary adjust with a mini screwdriver to the zero line of the scale.
