Overview

A small high speed rotary tool for detailed work: grinding, engraving, polishing, sanding and cutting. It is the machine for jobs that are too fine for an angle grinder, such as cutting a slot in a bolt head, cleaning up a weld in a corner, engraving a serial number, polishing a small part or cutting through a seized screw.

Speed is variable from 10 000 to 36 000 min-1, which matters because the right speed depends on the accessory. A cutting disc wants high speed, a polishing mop wants low, and running everything flat out is how people burn out both the accessory and the work. The flexible shaft is what makes it usable for fine work: you leave the motor on the bench and hold a thin handpiece like a pen, so your hand is not carrying the weight or the vibration. The carbon brushes change from outside through the caps, without opening the machine. The tool weighs 0.78kg and takes 2.2mm and 3.2mm collets.
