Overview
The Portable Fruit Hardness Tester (Fruit Sclerometer) is a mechanical precision instrument designed to measure the firmness and hardness of fruits. It is commonly used to assess fruit maturity, ripeness, quality, storage condition and readiness for harvesting or processing.
The tester works by applying a controlled pressing force through a stainless-steel penetration probe into the fruit. The force required for the probe to penetrate the fruit flesh is indicated on the graduated analogue dial, providing a practical measurement of fruit firmness.
The fruit hardness tester can be used for apples, pears, peaches, nectarines, plums, guavas and other firm fruits, depending on the appropriate probe and measurement range.
It is useful for:
. Fruit maturity and ripeness testing . Harvest-time assessment . Post-harvest quality control . Fruit storage monitoring . Packing-house inspection . Research and agricultural laboratories . Comparing firmness between fruit varieties or batches . Monitoring changes in firmness during storage and transportation
