Overview
Twenty litres is the standard jerry can size, and it is what most people use to carry fuel for a generator, a pump, a mower, a brush cutter or a vehicle. Green is the colour used for petrol, and keeping the two fuels in different coloured cans is the simplest way to stop a costly mistake on a farm or a site where several machines are fuelled from the same store.
A proper jerry can is not a water container with fuel in it. It is built to hold pressure as the fuel warms in the sun, it seals at the cap so vapour does not escape into a store, and the handle arrangement lets one person carry it or two people pass it. The spout pin supplied with it is what lets you pour into a tank without a funnel and without spilling half of it down the side of the machine. Keep the can in a shaded, ventilated place away from anything that sparks, and do not store it inside a house.

Why is it green?
Green marks it as the petrol can. Diesel is kept in the yellow can, which makes it harder to put the wrong fuel into a machine.
Does the spout come with it?
Yes. A spout pin is supplied with the can so you can pour into a tank without a funnel.
