Overview
A cordless tacker is the one you can take onto a roof, into a ceiling void or out to a fence without dragging a lead or a compressor hose behind you. Fixing ceiling board and cornice, tacking beading and trim, making up light frames, fitting cabinet backs, holding a joint while the glue sets, tacking insect mesh or shade cloth. One hand holds the work and the other fires.
It handles both staples and brad nails, which covers most light fixing work. Staples run from 15 to 22mm and brads from 15 to 32mm, both in 18 gauge, and the magazine takes 100 at a time. Firing power is adjustable, so the same tool can set a brad flush in soft pine and still drive into a denser board without leaving heads standing proud. The nose is a no-mar tip, which means it does not bruise a finished surface, and there is an LED to light the spot where the nail will land. A window in the magazine shows when it is running empty before you fire a blank, and a jam is cleared by hand rather than with a screwdriver and patience. Contact firing safety stops it firing unless the nose is pressed against the work.
