Fifty metres of 3.0mm line. At this diameter the line has stopped being a lawn accessory and become clearing equipment, for the large brush cutters that people run along road reserves, around institutions, over fallow plots and through the dense growth that follows a long rainy season.

Thick line carries far more mass at the tip, so it goes through stems that lighter line simply wraps around, and it survives contact with the kind of ground where nobody knows exactly what is under the grass. That mass has to be swung by the machine, which is why 3mm belongs on a powerful brush cutter and nowhere else. Fifty metres is the practical quantity: enough to keep a machine running through a long clearing job, not so much that a roll sits in a store for years going brittle. Cut the length the head takes and load it the way the head is marked.
