51.7cc Petrol Earth Auger, 80-200mm Bits, 1.45kW, 2-Stroke

A petrol earth auger for digging post holes: fencing a shamba, putting in gate posts, setting a line of vine or passion fruit supports, planting trees and drilling holes for soil sampling. What takes a man most of a morning with a crowbar and a panga takes minutes with this.

The 51.7cc engine is rated at 1.45kW and drives the auger through a centrifugal clutch, which means the bit only turns once you open the throttle. That protects the gearbox and it also means the auger is not spinning while you line it up on the mark. The carburettor is a diaphragm type, so the machine keeps running at an angle, which matters on sloping ground and when the auger goes in off vertical. The frame is heavy duty with an anti-vibration handle, and the throttle trigger has a safety catch. It comes with a 200mm auger bit and a fixing pin, takes bits from 80 to 200mm, holds 980ml of fuel and weighs 9.8kg.
