Overview
The high pressure hose is the working link between the pump and the gun, and it is the part of a washer that takes the most abuse. It gets dragged over gravel, driven over in a yard, kinked at the gun end and left in the sun. When it goes, the machine is complete and still perfectly good but it cannot be used, which is why a spare hose is worth having before you need it.
This is the 8 metre length for the AJP1600 and AJP1610 machines. Eight metres is enough to walk around a car, reach the far end of a matatu, or cover a compound gate and the wall beside it without moving the washer. That is the real value of hose length, because the machine stays parked at the tap and the socket while you move. The fittings are made for those two models, so the threads and the seals match and there is no adaptor in the line to leak.

No. A high pressure hose should be replaced, not patched or taped. A pinhole leak at working pressure is strong enough to cut skin.
