Overview
A hybrid inverter is the centre of a solar and backup installation. It takes power from the panels on the roof, from the battery bank, and from the mains when that is available, and decides which one feeds the house at any moment. When the grid drops, the changeover happens at the inverter rather than at a manual switch, so the lights, the fridge and the sockets stay on.
The 3000W rating is the continuous load the inverter is built to carry. That figure is what you size a system against, and it is the number that decides what you can run at once rather than how long you can run it. Run time comes from the battery bank behind it, not from the inverter. For a household, 3000W is the class of unit that covers lighting, a television, a fridge, a router, fans and phone charging, with a kettle or an iron being the load that pushes it. Being a hybrid unit, it also charges the battery from solar during the day and from the mains at night if you set it to.

Does it switch over automatically when power goes?
Yes. A hybrid inverter takes over from the battery when the mains supply fails, so connected equipment keeps running.
