Overview
The blade is the part of a biscuit jointer that wears. It cuts a short curved slot in the edge of a board over and over, mostly in chipboard and MDF, and board is hard on a blade because of the glue in it. Sooner or later the slot starts to burn and the biscuit stops fitting cleanly.
This is the replacement blade for the JM-100K joint maker. Keeping a spare on the shelf is worth it if you are working to a deadline on a kitchen or a set of shelves, because a jointer with a dull blade is not a slower tool, it is a tool that produces joints that do not pull up tight. Fit the new blade with the machine unplugged, check the direction of rotation marked on it, and tighten the arbor nut properly before the first cut. A blade also costs less than the time lost to a joint that has to be cut a second time, which is the real price of running one past its life. Keep the old blade only if you have someone who sharpens properly.
