18V Cordless Circular Saw, 165mm, 4000rpm, 52mm Cut, Laser

This is the cordless saw for the cuts that come up away from a socket. Trimming a rafter on a roof, cutting shuttering ply on a slab, sizing a shelf in a room with no power yet, cutting a fence rail at the far end of a shamba. You carry the saw and the battery, and that is the whole set up.

A 165mm blade on a 20mm bore cuts 52mm deep at 90 degrees, which covers a 50mm timber, sheet material, board and battens in one pass. The motor turns at 4 000 revolutions a minute with no load. A single beam laser guide throws a line ahead of the blade, which makes freehand cutting along a pencil mark far easier than squinting past the guard. The base tilts to 45 degrees for bevel cuts, and a large front handle gives your second hand a firm grip, which is what keeps a cordless saw straight in a cut. At 2.4kg the tool balances well enough to use one handed on a ladder, although two hands is the safe way.
