Overview

A cordless jigsaw is the tool for curves, cut-outs and awkward positions where a lead is a nuisance. Cutting a hole in a worktop for a sink, notching a board around a pipe, shaping a shelf end, cutting an opening in a ceiling board, trimming sheet metal for a gutter. Up a ladder or inside a cupboard, no cable means nothing pulling the tool off the line.

The stroke is 20mm long and runs from nothing up to 2 500 strokes a minute on the trigger. Slow speeds keep the blade cool in steel, plastic and aluminium, which is what stops the teeth burning out, and full speed cuts timber and board quickly. Four positions of orbital action let you add a forward swing to the stroke for fast rough cutting, or take it off for a clean edge in board and metal. The blade holder opens without a tool, so a change from a wood blade to a metal one takes seconds with the saw in one hand. A dust extraction port takes the waste away from the line. At 1.2kg it is light enough to hold out in front of you for a long cut.

Does it come with a battery?
No. The battery and charger are excluded, so it is bought as a bare tool for an existing 18V lithium-ion kit.
What thickness can it cut?
Up to 80mm in wood and 6mm in steel, when the right blade for the material is fitted.
