Overview
A cordless reciprocating saw is a pruning and demolition tool you can carry anywhere. Cutting a branch that is over a roof, taking out an old window frame, cutting a fence post off at ground level, chopping up pallets for firewood, cutting a pipe under a sink. There is no lead to run out to a tree line and nothing to snag while you are up on a wall.
The blade runs at 2 700 strokes a minute and sticks straight out in front of the tool, which is what lets it reach into places a circular saw or a handsaw cannot get to: between studs, behind a frame, flush against a wall. It cuts 50mm in wood and 6mm in metal with the right blade, so it handles both branches and steel pipe or conduit. The blade clamp opens by hand, which matters when you are changing from a coarse wood blade to a metal blade several times in a job while standing on a ladder. Both handles are rubber covered, and a lock-on switch holds the trigger for long continuous cuts so your finger is not doing the work. At 1.5kg it is light enough to hold up at shoulder height.

Questions and answers
Is the battery included?
No. The battery and charger are excluded, so the saw suits someone who already has 18V lithium-ion packs.
Can it prune branches?
Yes, up to 50mm in wood with a coarse wood blade fitted. For thicker branches use a chainsaw or a bow saw.
