A heat gun does the jobs a flame cannot be trusted with: softening old paint so it lifts with a scraper, shrinking heat shrink over a joint in a wiring loom, thawing a frozen pipe, loosening a stuck bearing or a vinyl tile, and drying filler before you sand it. Cordless means it goes up a ladder, into a roof space or out to a vehicle in the yard without a lead trailing behind it.

Five hundred degrees is enough heat for the ordinary run of paint stripping, shrink sleeving and adhesive softening. The air flow of 200 litres a minute is what carries that heat onto the work, and cellular heating with electronic control keeps the output steady instead of swinging as the battery drains. At 0.6kg it is light in one hand, which matters when you are holding it at arm's length over a window frame. A scald-proof sleeve lets you pull a hot nozzle off without waiting for it to cool, and the LED lights the spot you are aiming at.
