Overview
A heat gun is one of those tools that sits in the box until the day you need it, and then nothing else will do. Stripping old paint off a door or a window frame, softening the adhesive under a tile or a sticker, bending plastic pipe, drying paint or varnish, and shrinking heat shrink sleeve over a wiring joint.
It has two settings rather than one, and the difference is real. The low setting runs at 450°C with 300 litres a minute of air, which is for drying, softening adhesive and shrinking film without scorching what is underneath. The high setting runs at 600°C with 500 litres a minute, which is what lifts stubborn old paint. Thermal overload protection cuts in before the element is damaged if the air path is blocked or the gun is worked too hard. At 0.8kg it is light enough to hold up to a frame for a long stretch, and the case keeps the gun and the nozzles together.
