Cordless is where an oscillating tool makes the most sense, because most of its work happens in places a cable gets in the way: under a sink, inside a cupboard, at the base of a door frame, up a ladder, or in the corner of a room where you are already contorted. At 0.96kg you can hold it one-handed in a position you could not hold a heavier tool.

The oscillating rate runs from 5 000 up to 19 000 a minute, which is a wide range and the useful part of it is the bottom end. Slow speeds suit scraping and work on plastic or soft material that a fast blade would melt or tear, while the top of the range is for cutting timber and board. The 3.2 degree oscillating angle gives a positive cut without the tool wandering off the line. The blade mounts in multiple positions so it sits at the angle the work needs and will not slip. There is an auxiliary handle for two-handed control on longer cuts.
