Overview
Five loops of 2.0mm line at eight metres each. Two millimetre is the gauge people move to when the thinner lines keep breaking, and a five pack is what they buy once they know that is the size their machine takes.
It suits a compound where the grass is thick stemmed rather than fine, where there are fence posts, drains and stone edges to trim around, and where the cutting happens every week through the rains. A 2mm line stays straighter in dense growth, cuts more per pass and lasts longer against hard edges, and when you are working through forty metres of it over a season those small differences add up to less time bumping the head and more time cutting. It needs a machine rated for it, which usually means a larger electric trimmer or a small petrol one.

Questions and answers
Will five loops last a season?
On ordinary compound work, usually. Against block walls and stones line wears much faster, so heavy users often prefer a 100 metre donut.
Does my machine need to be petrol?
Not necessarily. Larger electric trimmers take 2mm line. Check the handbook, because a small machine built for 1.4 or 1.6mm will struggle.
