Overview

Twenty four hundred watts is close to petrol territory on a mains machine. This is the mower for a large lawn where you want the width and the power of a petrol mower without the fuel, the oil changes or the pull cord. With a 460mm cutting path it covers ground quickly, and the motor has the reserve to keep the blade turning in grass that would stall a 1600W machine.

It runs at 2 850rpm and takes a 50 litre collection box, which is the right size to go with a 460mm cut. A narrow box behind a wide deck simply means stopping to empty every few minutes. Cutting height runs between 25 and 70mm, so you can top rough grass and then come back down for a finish. At 25.9kg it is built more like a petrol machine than a light household mower, and that weight is mostly what keeps it steady and tracking straight over uneven ground rather than skipping across it.

What extension lead should I use?
A heavy outdoor rated lead. A 2400W motor pulls a lot of current and a thin lead will warm up and cost you power at the far end.
Is it as strong as a petrol mower?
It is the most powerful corded mower here at 2400W with a 460mm cut. The trade off is that you are tied to a lead.
