250W Bandsaw, 200mm Cutting Width, 80mm Cutting Depth

A bandsaw is the saw for curves. A circular saw and a table saw cut straight lines, but a bandsaw follows a pencil line round a shape, which is how you cut a curved bracket, a chair back, a template, a sign board, a toy, or the waste out of a joint. It also cuts straight when you want it to, and it does so with a narrow kerf, so less timber ends up as sawdust.

This is a bench sized machine at 17kg with a 200mm cutting width, meaning the distance from the blade to the frame, and 80mm of depth under the guide. That covers boards, battens, ply and most furniture parts. The 305 by 305mm table tilts from 0 to 45 degrees, so bevels and mitres are cut on the machine rather than fixed afterwards, and a mitre gauge sets a repeatable angle. The blade runs at 15.9 metres a second. An electromagnetic switch is the safety detail that matters most on a bandsaw, because it will not restart on its own when power comes back after an outage.
