A petrol water pump is what you use where there is no power or where the water is not where you need it. Irrigating a shamba from a river or a dam, emptying a flooded foundation or a basement, filling a tank on a hill, moving water from a borehole holding tank, or draining a fish pond. The engine runs on petrol, so the pump goes to the water rather than the water coming to a socket.

Fifty millimetre ports put this in the small to middle size of pump. It moves up to 370 litres a minute, which is a useful flow for irrigation lines, sprinklers and tank filling, and it lifts to a head of 26 metres, which is what decides whether it can get water up a slope to where you want it. The engine is a 6.5 horsepower four stroke, air cooled and pull started, with a 3.6 litre tank. Four stroke means it runs on plain petrol with oil in the sump rather than mixed into the fuel, so there is no measuring of two stroke oil and no smoke. The pump is self-priming, and there is a drain plug for emptying it before transport or storage. At 27.5kg on a steel frame, two people can lift it onto a pick up.
