Sponge Filter, Spare for SV-12 Wet & Dry Vacuum

The foam filter is the part of a wet and dry vacuum that does the work nobody sees. It sits over the motor intake and stops what has been picked up from reaching the motor, and on wet pick up it is the only thing between a tank of dirty water and the windings. A vacuum running without one, or with one that has torn, is a vacuum that will fail.

This is the spare for the SV-12, the 12 litre machine in the same range. Foam filters are consumable rather than permanent. They load up with fine dust, they are washed, they are dried, and after enough cycles they go stiff, split at a fold or tear at the edge where they stretch over the cage. A filter in that state passes dust straight through and shows up as a vacuum that has lost its suction and smells hot. Keeping a spare on the shelf is what stops a workshop borrowing the household vacuum for a week, and it lets you fit a dry filter straight away instead of waiting a day for the washed one to dry.
