Overview
Two loops of 1.4mm line, eight metres each. This is the thinnest gauge stocked, and it belongs on the small electric trimmers that people use for a lawn, a verge or a strip of grass around a house rather than for clearing rough ground.
Light machines need light line. A trimmer of a few hundred watts has only so much torque, and fitting a thicker line than it was designed for makes it bog down in the grass, run hot and wear out early. At 1.4mm the head spins freely, the line feeds cleanly through the eyelets and the machine cuts soft grass at the speed it was built for. The trade is fragility: fine line breaks quickly when it meets a wall, a fence post or a stone, which is exactly why this comes as a pair of loops. One goes on the spool and the second waits in the store for the day the first one is gone.

Questions and answers
Why choose the thinnest line?
Because small, low powered trimmers are built for it. A thicker line makes them bog down in grass and run hot.
Will it cope with weeds along a fence?
Not well. Fine line breaks quickly against posts, wire and stones. Use 1.6mm or 2.0mm there if your machine is rated for it.
How do I order and receive it?
Place your order online and we will call you to confirm the item, the price and the delivery. You can collect it from our shop on Moi Avenue in Nairobi CBD or we can send it by courier.
Not sure if this is the right one?
Call or email us and tell us what you keep and how many. We will say whether this one fits your farm or point you to a better size. You are also welcome to come and see it in our Nairobi CBD shop.
