2.0mm x 8m Trimming Line, Single Loop

A single loop of 2.0mm trimming line, eight metres long. Two millimetre line is the step up from the thin domestic gauges, and it is what larger electric trimmers and the smaller petrol machines are usually set up to take.

The difference is felt in thick growth. A thin line cuts soft lawn grass cleanly but bounces off woody stems and shreds itself against a block wall. A heavier line keeps its shape longer, cuts through the thick stemmed grass that takes over a compound during the rains, and survives more contact with kerbs, pipes and fence posts before it needs feeding out again. The trade is that it takes more power to swing. A machine designed for 1.4 or 1.6mm will slow and run hot on 2mm line, so this is a size to use because the handbook allows it and not because it looks stronger on the shelf.
