Overview
The twin pack of 1.6mm line. Two loops of eight metres, in the size that fits most domestic electric trimmers, which makes this the pack most people leave the shop with.
Buying two at a time solves the real problem with trimming line, which is that it never runs out at a convenient moment. It goes halfway round a compound, in the middle of a Saturday, with the grass half cut and the shops closed. One loop lives on the spool and the other stays in the store, and the job finishes the same day. The 1.6mm gauge is the middle ground in this range: heavy enough to hold up against the coarse grass that comes with the rains and the occasional touch on a kerb, light enough that a small electric motor swings it without labouring.

Questions and answers
Is this the size most trimmers use?
It is the common size on domestic electric machines. Check the handbook or the label on the head, since some small trimmers take 1.4mm.
Why buy two loops?
Line always runs out mid job. With a twin pack the spare is already in the store, so the work finishes the same day.
