Square 2.0mm x 8m Trimming Line, Single Loop

Square profile line in 2.0mm, sold as a single 8 metre loop. It goes into the same heads as round line of the same size, but it behaves differently in the grass.

A round line cuts mostly by beating the stem until it tears. A square line has four corners running at the same speed, and those corners work more like edges, so the cut is cleaner and the line pushes through thick stemmed weeds and the coarse grass that comes up along a fence with less effort. That is the reason people who trim rough ground rather than lawn tend to ask for it. The trade offs are honest ones: a square line is noisier, it wears faster against walls and stones because those corners are what wear first, and it costs more per metre than plain round line. For a compound with tough growth and few hard edges, it earns its place.
