Overview

A pole saw for cutting branches overhead without a ladder. You stand on the ground, reach up and cut, which is safer and a good deal faster than climbing with a chainsaw in one hand. It suits pruning trees around a compound, clearing branches off a roof or a power line run, and tidying a hedge line after the rains.

The motor is mounted at the rear rather than at the cutting head. That puts the weight near your hands instead of at the far end of the pole, and on a tool you hold above shoulder height that is the difference between five minutes and half an hour of work. The shaft splits in two for transport and storage. Chain tension is set without tools, the oiler feeds the bar automatically from a 120ml tank, and a shoulder strap carries part of the 4.7kg. The 200mm bar runs at 13 metres a second.

How high can it reach?
It depends on your own height and reach, since the working length is the shaft plus your arms. The supplier does not publish a total length for this model, so ask us if you need the figure.
Why is the motor at the back?
Balance. With the motor at the rear the weight sits near your hands instead of at the end of the pole, so the tool is easier to hold up and control.
