A mitre saw is what turns timber work from approximate into accurate. Cutting roof battens and rafters to length, mitring door and window architrave, making up a picture frame, cutting skirting for a room, squaring off the ends of fencing rails. The blade comes down on a fixed arc, so every cut repeats at the same angle instead of drifting the way a hand saw does.

Compound means the head both swivels for a mitre and tilts for a bevel, so a corner that needs both angles at once is one cut rather than two. The 1 200 Watt motor drives a 210mm carbide tipped blade at 4 900 revolutions a minute, and the 24 teeth on it are a general purpose count that crosscuts framing timber quickly. Capacity is 60 x 115mm with the head square, and 25 x 115mm with the table swung to 45 degrees. The laser throws a line on the work ahead of the blade so you can see where the cut will land before you commit to it, and the trigger safety switch is large enough to find with a gloved hand. At 6.3kg the saw is light enough to carry to a site and set on a bench or a stand.
