A circular saw is the tool that cuts sheets and boards down to size, on a site or in a compound where there is no table saw. Cutting ply and chipboard to fit, sizing rafters and joists, trimming a door, ripping a board to width, cutting shuttering for a concrete pour. The base adjusts for bevel cutting from 0 to 45 degrees, so an angled edge on a rafter or a worktop is cut on the saw rather than planed afterwards. A slide fence runs the saw parallel to an edge for a repeat width. The spindle lock means a blade change needs one spanner rather than three hands.
