Overview

The blade is the part of a circular saw that does the work, and a tired blade makes a good saw feel broken. Burning, a cut that wanders, smoke, a motor that labours and a finish that needs planing afterwards are all symptoms of a blunt or wrong blade rather than a worn out machine. A 185mm blade is the common size for handheld circular saws.

Twenty four teeth is the general purpose count. Fewer, larger teeth take a bigger bite, clear the sawdust better and cut faster along the grain, which is what you want for ripping boards, cutting rafters and sizing structural timber on site. A high tooth count blade gives a finer finish but cuts slowly and clogs in deep timber. Carbide tips are the reason the blade lasts, because carbide holds an edge far longer than plain steel and survives the occasional nail or grit in reclaimed timber, though not without damage. The blade is 185 by 1.8 by 16mm and rated to 7 000 revolutions a minute.

Questions and answers

Will it fit my saw?
It is a 185mm blade with a 16mm bore rated to 7 000min-1. Check your saw takes that diameter and bore before ordering, and tell us if you are unsure.
Is 24 teeth right for a fine finish?
No. Twenty four teeth cuts quickly but leaves a rougher edge. For visible work in ply or a worktop, use a blade with more teeth.
How do I order and receive it?
Place your order online and we will call you to confirm the item, the price and the delivery. You can collect it from our shop on Moi Avenue in Nairobi CBD or we can send it by courier.
