Overview
An electric chainsaw for a compound or a smallholding: cutting firewood, clearing branches that come down in the rains, and sizing poles and offcuts. It runs off mains power, so there is no fuel to mix, nothing to prime, and no engine that refuses to start after a month in the store.
The 350mm cutting length covers most of what grows on a plot around Nairobi, and the chain runs at 13.5 metres a second, which is what does the cutting. The 1800W motor is there to hold that speed when the bar is buried in dry hardwood rather than only in soft green timber. Chain tension is set by hand with no spanner, and the automatic oiler feeds the bar from a 150ml tank. At 4.9kg it is light enough to hold up for a short cut at chest height.

Questions and answers
Do I need to mix fuel for it?
No. It runs on mains power. You need a socket and an extension cable rated for the load, but there is no petrol or two stroke oil to mix.
Does it oil the chain by itself?
Yes. The automatic oiler feeds the bar from a 150ml tank. You top up the bar oil, which is sold separately, and check the level as you work.
