Overview
The big petrol saw in the range: a 62cc two stroke engine on a 500mm bar. This is a felling and cross cutting saw, bought by people who cut timber as work rather than as an occasional job around the compound. It runs on mixed fuel and needs no power supply, so it goes to the tree instead of the tree coming to it.
The step from 45cc to 62cc is about how long the saw will keep cutting, not only about the length of the bar. A larger engine holds chain speed deeper into a hardwood trunk and recovers faster between cuts, which is the difference between finishing a stack of logs and stopping every few minutes. The 500mm bar takes a wider trunk in one pass. It is a heavy saw and a two handed one, and it is not the tool to hand to somebody who has never run a chainsaw.
