Overview
A round file for sharpening chainsaw chain. Every cutter on the chain has a curved face, and a round file of the right diameter is the only thing that restores it to the correct shape. This is the 4.0mm size, which suits chain pitches that call for a 4.0mm file.
A blunt chain is the single most common complaint we hear about chainsaws, and almost always the saw is fine. A sharp chain throws square chips and pulls itself into the wood. A blunt one makes fine dust, smokes, and has to be forced, which loads the engine, heats the bar and wears the sprocket. Two or three strokes per cutter at the same angle, every time you refuel, keeps a chain cutting all day. It takes less time than the tank of fuel does to burn.

Which file size does my chain need?
It depends on the chain, not the saw. The chain or its packaging states the file diameter. This is the 4.0mm size, and we also stock the sharpening kits in 3/16 inch and 5/32 inch.
How often should I sharpen?
A few strokes on each cutter every time you refuel is the habit that keeps a saw cutting. Sharpen immediately if the chain touches soil, stone or a nail.
How do I order and receive it?
