Overview
A sharpening kit for chainsaw chain in the 5/32 inch file size. It is the smaller of the two kits we stock and it suits the chains specified for that file diameter. The purpose is simple: put the edge back on the cutters so the saw pulls itself into the wood again.
Most saws that come to us described as weak are not weak, they are blunt. A sharp chain cuts square chips under light hand pressure. A blunt one grinds out fine dust, smokes, and only cuts if you lean on it, and leaning on it heats the bar, stretches the chain and works the engine hard for nothing. The fix is a few strokes on each cutter at a consistent angle, done every time you stop to refuel rather than once the saw has stopped cutting altogether.

Questions and answers
Which size do I need for my saw?
The chain decides it, not the saw. Look for the file diameter marked on the chain or its packaging. We stock both 5/32 inch and 3/16 inch.
How many times can a chain be sharpened?
Many times, until the cutters are filed back to their wear mark. After several sharpenings the depth gauges also need lowering or the cutters will not reach the wood.
How do I order and receive it?
