350W Belt and Disc Sander, 100 x 914mm Belt, 150mm Disc

This is a bench sander for a small workshop, a school or a home shop where the work is furniture, fittings, repairs and general joinery. It sits on a bench and you bring the work to it, which is the fastest way to square an end, take a curve to a line, fit a joint or clean up a sawn edge. Doing the same by hand with a block and paper is slow, and doing it with a handheld sander is hard to keep square.

The belt is 100 by 914mm and it can be set horizontal or vertical. Horizontal suits long edges and flat faces, vertical turns it into a surface you can push an end grain into against the table, which is how you square an end properly. The 150mm disc runs at 1 450 revolutions a minute for ends and angles, and the working table takes a mitre guide and adjusts for bevels, so the angle is set rather than judged. A quick action belt tensioning and tracking system means changing a grit is a matter of a lever and a knob. The cast iron construction is what keeps the machine still while you press against it.
