720W Belt Sander, 76 x 457mm Belt

This is the belt sander for general work around a house, a shop or a small joinery. Taking the swelling off a door that has stopped closing, cleaning a bench top, stripping old paint off a window frame or a gate, levelling a repair, or bringing rough sawn timber down to something you can finish by hand. It is the fastest way to remove material from a flat surface short of a plane.

Seventy six millimetres is the common handheld belt width, which means belts in any grit are easy to find, and 457mm is a short loop, so the machine is compact and does not overhang the work as much as a longer one. At 2.8kg it can be held against a vertical surface or an edge without fighting it. The tracking adjustment is the control you use most. A belt that drifts will run off the rollers or chew the housing, and a turn of the knob keeps it centred. The tension release lever drops the belt off in one movement, which matters because you change grits often. A lock on button keeps it running without holding the trigger.
