810W Belt Sander, 76 x 533mm Belt, 250m/min

This is the everyday size of belt sander, the one that gets used on doors, window frames, benches, shutters, floors and furniture. Seventy six millimetres is a practical belt width for a handheld machine, wide enough to level a surface but narrow enough to work along a rail or a stile without fouling the piece next to it. At 2.7kg you can hold it on a vertical face or an edge without your arms going.

Besides wood it is used on metal, for taking rust off a gate, a grille or a bracket and for cleaning up a weld before painting. That mixed use is normal on a site or in a fabrication shop, and it is why the belt grit you choose matters more than the machine. The sander can be used in a fixed inverted position, clamped upside down on a bench so you bring small parts to it, which turns a handheld tool into a rough bench sander for shaping. A centring adjustment keeps the belt tracking straight, a tension release lever makes belt changes quick, and a lock on button saves holding the trigger. A dust bag and a belt are supplied.
