Overview

A floor standing drill press for a workshop that drills all day. A pedestal machine stands on its own column rather than on a bench, which means the table can drop right down and you can drill long work upright, such as a length of box section or a post, that would never fit under a bench top press.

Cast iron housing and 51.5kg of machine hold the spindle steady. Sixteen speeds mean you can pick a low speed for a 16mm bit in steel and a high one for small holes in timber, which is the difference between a clean hole and a burnt bit. The motor mount pivots to hold belt tension and to make speed changes quick. There is an adjustable locking depth stop for repeat work, a built-in light over the table and a three jaw chuck. Plunge capacity is 80mm and the distance from table to chuck is 680mm, which is where the standing height earns its keep.
