A step up from the small household trimmer, meant for a longer boundary hedge or a compound with a lot of shrubs. The extra 140mm of blade over a 410mm machine means fewer passes along the same hedge, and the extra power keeps the blade moving through growth that would stall a smaller motor.

The 650 Watt motor runs the blade at 1 500 strokes a minute and takes stems up to 20mm. Dual action blades cut against each other, which shears the stem instead of tearing it, so the hedge browns less at the cut ends. The rear handle rotates through 180 degrees. That sounds like a small thing until you cut the vertical side of a tall hedge, where a fixed handle forces your wrist into an awkward angle for the whole run. With the handle turned, your grip stays natural. An electric brake stops the motor when you release the trigger, and a blade brake plus a double action safety switch mean the blades will not run on.
