Overview

A general purpose impact drill: drilling into block and concrete for anchors, into timber for screws, and into steel for bolts. Impact mode adds a hammering action to the rotation, which is what gets a masonry bit through a block wall instead of polishing a shallow dent into it.

The chuck is keyless, so bits change by hand with no chuck key to lose, and that alone is worth the difference on a tool that is used daily. The 710W motor runs up to 3 000 min-1, with variable speed on the trigger, so you can start a hole slowly and accurately and then open the trigger once the bit has bitten. Reverse is there for backing a jammed bit out of a hole, which is the usual reason a drill gets stuck in a wall. Switching between drilling and impact is a single movement. The side handle adjusts to give proper control, and the tool weighs 2.14kg.

Questions and answers

Will it drill into concrete?
Into block and light concrete, yes, in impact mode with a masonry bit. For repeated holes in structural concrete an SDS-plus rotary hammer works much faster.
What does the keyless chuck mean?
Bits are tightened by hand rather than with a chuck key. It saves time and there is no key to lose, which is why most people prefer it on a daily use drill.
