Overview

A flexible shaft that goes between the drill and the bit. It adds length and, more usefully, it bends, so you can drive a screw or drill a hole in a place where the body of the drill will not physically fit: behind a cistern, inside a cabinet, between studs, under a dashboard or up in a roof space.

Everybody who fits kitchens, does electrical first fix or works on vehicles has met the screw that cannot be reached. The usual answers are a right angle attachment, a stubby screwdriver and bad language. This bar is the cheapest of the three. It adds 280 to 300mm of length and lets the bit sit at an angle to the drill, so the drill body stays out of the way. The bit holder is magnetised, which keeps the screw on the end while you feed it into a gap you cannot see into, and the quick change collar swaps bits without unscrewing anything. It takes any 6.35mm hex shank bit and fits a 6.35mm hex holder.

What bits does it take?
Any 6.35mm hex shank bit. The holder is magnetised so the bit and the screw stay on the end. Round shank drill bits will not fit.
Can I drill with it?
Light drilling with hex shank bits, yes. It is mainly a screwdriving extension. Heavy drilling twists the flexible core and that is what usually breaks them.
