Overview
A hydraulic closer made for an exterior door: a house entrance, a gate door to a compound, an office front or a shop door onto the street. An exterior door has wind behind it, so it slams harder and it stands open more readily than an internal one, and both of those are what a closer is there to stop.
It mounts on the surface of the door and the frame, so it fits a door that is already hung without routing or specialist work. The closing speed is adjustable, which is how you set a door that shuts firmly enough to latch against a breeze but slowly enough that people can carry something through it. This is the 45kg model in brown, a finish that sits better on timber doors than silver does. The range covers doors from 35kg to 80kg, and includes hollow core, solid wood, glass, aluminium, extra large and pivot doors. The unit is 33.3 x 20.2 x 7cm and weighs 1.5kg.

Questions and answers
Will it hold a door open?
No. It is a closer, so it returns the door to the frame every time. If you need the door to stand open, you want a hold open device fitted as well.
Does the closing speed change with the weather?
Yes, a little. Hydraulic oil thickens in the cold and thins in the heat. Set the speed during the hottest part of the day and check it again after a week.
