Overview

This closer uses a sliding track rail instead of the usual scissor arm. The arm runs in a rail fixed along the frame rather than folding out into the doorway, so nothing projects into the opening. On a door in a corridor, a shop front or a reception area that is the difference between a tidy installation and an arm that catches shoulders and bags all day.

Apart from the arm, it does the same job as a standard overhead closer and does it with the same controls. The two speed valves set the sweep and the latch separately, so the door travels back gently and still hits the frame with enough force to engage the lock. Back check resists the door being thrown open past a set point, which protects the wall, the door and the closer itself. The track rail also tends to look better on glass and aluminium doors where a scissor arm is very visible. The unit is silver, 41 x 12 x 5cm and 2.0kg.

Why choose a track rail over a standard arm?

Is it as strong as a scissor arm closer?
No. A track rail gives less closing force for the same body, which is why it is rated at 40kg. For a heavy or draughty door, use a standard arm model.
