Overview

This is the surveying end of the range. Seventy metres covers a building elevation, a plot boundary, a warehouse or a road frontage, and the functions go well past a simple straight line. It is the instrument for someone measuring buildings for a living rather than measuring a room once.

Indirect measurement using the Pythagorean theorem is the function that earns its keep. It lets you work out the height of a wall, a roof line or a tree without getting up to it, by taking two readings from the ground. Auto level and auto height do the same job for common cases. The 3D point to point function gives you the distance between any two points in a space, which is what you need for a diagonal across a room or the run of a stair. The 2 inch colour touch screen is rated IP65 for dust and water, which is the difference between a tool that survives a site and one that dies in a dusty bag.
