Overview

A mitre saw sitting on a drum, a stack of blocks or the ground is the usual reason a cut comes out crooked and the usual reason a hand ends up near a blade. A stand fixes both. The saw bolts to quick mounts, the timber rests level on the arms, and you work standing at 875mm instead of bent over.

The support arms pull out from 1 100mm to 2 940mm, which means nearly three metres of timber can be held level while you cut the far end. That is what makes a stand worth having for anyone cutting rafters, purlins, fascia boards, skirting or fencing rails. The rated load is 227kg, so heavy stock and a heavy saw together are within it. Setting up is by snap pins rather than spanners, so the stand opens and folds in the yard without tools. The quick tool mounts fit most mitre saws and other benchtop machines, so the same stand can carry a table saw or a thicknesser when the mitre saw comes off. Folded, it carries in a bakkie or a pick up and stores against a wall, and at 13.2kg one person can load it.
